Asaba 2026: Heartland Queens ready for Federation Cup final — Skipper Opara

As football enthusiasts await this weekend’s final match of the 2026 President Federation Cup taking place in Asaba, the Delta State capital, between Nasarawa Amazons and Heartland Queens’ FC of Owerri, Captain of the Owerri side, Chimebere Opara has hinted that her team is prepared and ready for the match.

Opara who spoke with our reporter in an exclusive phone chat today, disclosed that the team’s officials and players are in high spirit and best form physically and mentally for the epochal encounter; having trained so rigorously over the days.

She explained that the team’s expectation is to win and bring the coveted trophy home despite being first timers in the final of the tournament pointing out that many football enthusiasts believe in the Owerri Landladies to win the trophy.

The captain who noted that the Amazons of Nasarawa are a strong side, however said that Heartland Queens is not intimidated and will try their best to beat them irrespective of the rating of the Amazons who have been to the final before.

Her words, “Our expectation is to win the trophy. We know that many people are believing in us to win the trophy and bring it home to Imo State. We will not disappoint Imolites.

“You know it’s our first time to reach the final, I believe God that we will try our best and do well. We are 100percent ready . Just like us, we will give them the fight.

“Our rivals are a strong side. They have been to the final of the Cup back-to-back. Nasarawa Amazons are not a pushover. It’s a strong team.”

The Umuohiagu, Imo State born female football star and captain further disclosed that there are no challenges to stop the Owerri Landladies from coasting to victory at the end of the awaited thriller.

She commended Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Commissioner for Sports and Coach Obi Ogbala for preparing the team to reach the final stage and go forth to win while urging Imolites to continue to support and pray for them until victory is achieved.
