Aaron Akerejola is the Lagos SWAN Chairman- National President, Benjamin Insists


President, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Benjamin Isaiah has reiterated that Arise Tv Sports reporter, Aaron Akerejola is the recognised Chairman of Lagos State Chapter.
The number one Sports Writer in Nigeria made this disclosure on Friday, 17th July, 2026 during a live interview session in one of the leading Nigerian WhatsApp groups , “Sports World Platform” tagged, ‘Super Interview’ hosted by Ibadan based Sports journalist, Sunday Agunbiade popularly known as Mr VAR.
“On the issue of authentic leadership of Lagos SWAN, which hitherto used to be under Tutu as Chairman and Bello as Secretary, their time ended a very long time ago . SWAN in Lagos, presently is being headed by Aaron Akerejola of Arise TV.
“Other teething issues are being handled holistically and In just a couple of time, we would see the right result coming up. The truth of the matter is that Tutu and Bello are no longer in charge of SWAN in Lagos and whoever deals with them will be doing so at his or her own risk. ”
“At the national Secretariat, we have issued accordingly a disclaimer to that effect. We have written all sporting bodies for their necessary actions. We equally wrote to Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Civil Defence, Lagos State Sports Commission, National Institute For Sports, the leadership and management of the stadium where our Secretariat is located.
They should stop dealing with Tutu or Bello as they are no longer members of SWAN . They have withdrawn their registration with SWAN and very soon, elections will be conducted where new leadership will be brought on board” The Kaduna based Media expert assured
It would be recalled that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) suspended the former Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Ms. Olatutu Oladunni, and Secretary, Mr. Bello Omotunde Muritala, from all Association activities and to handover the association’s property in their position to the new Chairman, Aaron Akerejola.
Part of the letter to IGP and other top law enforcement officials in the country, reads, “We write to formally notify you that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has ratified the suspension of Olatutu Oladunni and Bello Omotunde Muritala from all activities of the association.
“The decision of NEC is in line with SWAN statutory provision Article 21, number (1) A and C, following their various acts of misconduct.
“By this notification, both persons have been directed to stay away from all issues, events, meetings, forum etc concerning SWAN immediately.
“They are also instructed to submit all SWAN property/documents in their possession to the SWAN Lagos State Chapter Leadership now led by Aaron Akerejola, in line with SWAN statutory provision, being that the Vice Chairman takes over in the absence of the Chairman.
“They are not also meant to be seen in or around SWAN Secretariat located inside the National Stadium Lagos, Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja or any other SWAN office or Secretariat in any part of Nigeria.
“Also, members of the public are by this notice advised not to transact any business or have any relationship regarding SWAN with any of the suspended persons as listed in this correspondence.”
The SWAN NEC also suspended all electoral activities by the SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO) in the Chapter and revealed that further directive will be public in due course.
