WAFCON : Unfulfilled Promises May Ruin Super Falcons- Ex Falcons

Former Nigeria Women National team footballers have alerted that unfulfilled promises by the Federal Government to the present team could affect Super Falcons’ target of winning the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the 11th time in Morocco and also qualifying for the next FIFA Women’s Cup.

Members of United Ex Super Falcons Worldwide said at a recent meeting in Chicago United States of America that they are shocked by the fact that the Federal government is yet to fulfill promises of 100,000 US Dollars, land and other largesse to each player since their success story over a year now.

United States of America based ex Super Falcons striker, Patience Avre Odeli said moral of the players presently training in Morocco is down, a situation the ex Super Falcons players are unhappy over.

“The United Ex Super Falcons players Worldwide feel the pain present players are facing. They may be training, before WAFCON starts but the complains over unfulfilled promises, are getting louder.

“Virtually all players hinted us that there has not been official statement since last year and nobody talk about it. Players don’t complain for fear of being dropped. The government should ginger the players or risk international embarrassment, began Avre the multiple AWC winner on behalf of the group Thursday night.

She added that they are making the passionate plea to the Federal government on behalf of present players because several ex Super Falcons had been poorly treated in the past.

“The truth is that Nigeria should have been among the best women football playing nations but poor motivation in several past years have been an affront.

Federal government is capable of adequately rewarding every one who have brought honour to the country.

“All such successful players deserve proper financial reward beside national honour. Some of us shedded blood, tears and sweat without appreciation. Some ex Falcons have died while some are very sick amid injuries sustained while seeking honours for Nigeria.

“Some could not settle down to marry while many married very late. We sincerely hope that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu would let past and present Super Falcons players benefit from the renewed hope agenda”, concluded the former top striker of Ufuoma Babes FC of Warri and defunct Princess Jegede Queens FC of Lagos
