Ahead FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Falconets Held to 2–2 Draw by FC Liberty in Abuja Friendly

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, played out a 2–2 draw against FC Liberty (Boys) in a preparatory friendly match at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja, as part of their build-up to the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

The Falconets made a bright start to the encounter, asserting their dominance early in the game. Their positive approach paid off in the 8th minute when Alaba Olabiyi opened the scoring with a well-taken effort, giving the hosts an early lead.

Nigeria doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute after captain Joy Igbokwe confidently converted from the penalty spot, putting the Falconets firmly in control with a 2–0 lead before the half-time mark.

Despite the strong first-half showing from the Falconets, FC Liberty responded with renewed energy after the break. The boys’ side mounted sustained pressure in the second half and were eventually rewarded with two goals, drawing level to make it 2–2 by the end of the contest.

The friendly fixture provided a valuable test for the Falconets, offering the coaching crew an opportunity to assess the team’s tactical shape, fitness level, and overall readiness ahead of the global tournament.
