For an administrator campaigning on grassroots developmen, those are important credentials.

And that is perhaps the biggest argument surrounding his candidacy.

The position of Chairman of Chairmen requires someone who can bring together the various State Football Association chairmen, listen to their concerns and ensure that their collective interests receive adequate representation within the Nigerian football structure.

From FCT to the National Stage

Mouktar’s supporters believe his experience in Abuja gives him a useful perspective on the challenges confronting football administrators across the country.
When he first emerged as FCT FA chairman, he pledged to improve football facilities, develop players, coaches, referees and administrators, while making transparency and accountability central to his administration.

His approach has also included partnerships and initiatives designed to expose young footballers and coaches to international standards. His administration’s early programmes included collaboration with Bayern Munich and a coaching development programme.

That combination of grassroots football, competitions, infrastructure and human-capacity development forms the basis of the argument that he could bring practical experience to the national table.

Why Many Believe He Could Be the Right Man

The Chairman of Chairmen should not merely be a title-holder. The office requires somebody capable of building consensus among football administrators while ensuring that the voices of the State FAs are heard.

Mouktar’s supporters are therefore presenting him as a candidate who understands football administration from the ground up.

His campaign slogan, “Together, Let’s Take Nigerian Football to the Next Level,” reflects an attempt to position the contest beyond individual ambition and around collective development.
Whether the delegates will agree with that assessment will ultimately be determined at the ballot box in Nasarawa.
