Ikoyi Club Tennis boss hails Zenith Bank after success of Team event

The Chairman of the Tennis Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, Victor Onyenkpa, has showered praises on the sponsors of the just concluded Team event tournament, Zenith Bank.

Onyenkpa noted that Zenith Bank has been consistent in partnership with the elite club in the drive to keep members fit and develop the interesting game of tennis in the country.

He said: “This year’s tournament has been the best so far for us and we believe strongly that it will get better every year.

“We are so delighted that there was a keen competition from day one till final day and we are also glad that the turnout was massive.

“Zenith Bank has been a reliable partner over the years. We have had a very long relationship and we say a big ‘thank you’ to the organization.”

In the final matches of the Team Tennis Tournament decided on Friday night, Diaspora Banking defeated Prestige Banking 11-2 in the points collated in the final day in which two singles and three double matches were played.

Remi Amao defeated Ifoghale Gbodume 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 in the only win of the Prestige Banking team.

‘We still have loads of events and more sponsors on board for more events later in the year. But we are just excited that this Team Event went very well in all aspects.”

“We expect future tournaments in the year to get even better, as we take learnings from tournaments like this one, to improve them”, Onyenkpa added.

A total of 64 players divided into eight teams took part in the week-long competition.
