His Royal Highness, Oba James Oladipo Buremoh : Celebrating two decades of humanist and Community Service

The entire citizens of Idera Kingdom in Kwara State are in festive mood, counting their blessings as their Monarch, His Royal Highness, Oba James Oladipo Buremoh, Aroko Ola Ajagungbade 1, celebrates two decades since his coronation as the revered Onidera of Idera Kingdom.

The citizens are not only celebrating and praying that God and their ancestors should give their monarch good health and longevity to continue the transformation he’s bringing to the town since ascending to the throne of his forefathers but they’re also mindful that in Yoruba culture, there’s a tradition of honoring individuals who hold special significance or who have contributed significantly to the community’s well-being and development.
This tradition, known as “ÌBÀ” in Yoruba land, translates to “paying homage” or giving accolades to whom it is due.

“The world will never honor a man who passed away with his medicines”. In Yoruba, medicine can be directly translated as Ògùn.
Whenever you select one of the medicinal remedies passed down from your ancestors and successfully utilize it, whether for yourself or your patients, you pay homage to the individual who bestowed that knowledge upon you.
That’s why I believe the world won’t pay homage to a man who passes away without sharing their talents and potential; it implies a sense of selfishness.

The most valuable legacy for future generations isn’t always wealth or possessions but rather the wisdom, strength and principles for navigating through life even after one has passed on.
By doing this, one inscribes his name on the sands of time, ensuring it will be cherished for eternity; and that’s what the revered monarch has been doing for more than two decades of being on the throne.

Ladi, known as ‘The African Tiger’, a globally acclaimed Pro- Wrestling legend and former world champion, has ascended to the esteemed position of Nigerian royalty.

He now reigns as His Royal Highness King James Oladipo Buremoh, Aroko Ola Ajagungbade 1, the Onidera of Idera Kingdom in Kwara State.

This year marks his twentieth year reign on the throne of his ancestors.

Since ascending to the throne, he has spearheaded significant development in the town of Idera, solidifying his legacy as a monarch whose impact transcends generations. His enduring contributions continue to etch his name onto the sands of time, securing his place in history.

Oba James Buremoh has established modern vocational centers, enabling the community to acquire a variety of skills. Additionally, he erected township meeting hall and facilitated access to clean water, healthcare facilities for his people and also constructed Garri processing factory in the community.

On this note, allow me to add something; he is the first king I’ve seen who, when it comes to community projects, doesn’t merely issue orders or directives. Instead, you’ll find him personally involved, whether it’s digging, shoveling, or using a machete to clear grass and trees; he refuses to leave the people to work alone.

These are just a few of the aspects that astonish me about this king. Despite his international acclaim, numerous Western accolades, and global recognition as a former world champion, he remains so humble and dedicated to serving others.

It’s a great thing that someone who achieved such fame would choose to return to his native town and lead his people as king, not to exploit their resources but to invest his personal funds into community development.

He even travels abroad at times to raise funds and then brings them back home to be used for the advancement of his town.

His ascension to the throne hasn’t separated his ties with family, friends, or constituents; rather, it signals to his authenticity as an Omoluabi; a person of honor. His journey is still far, and one can anticipate the depth and longevity of his reign by the grace of God.

Oba James Buremoh oversees a community marked by extraordinary personal and communal advancement. Between the Palace and the people lies no barrier; they harmoniously echo the same pursuit of enlightenment.

The king’s devotion to his people is reciprocated, affirming the wisdom of their selection. At the milestone of 20 years, his reign is just unfolding. Though the road ahead is long, his Creator guides the way.
