CAA Seniors Championship: 40 man Nigerian team touch down in Cameroon
Members of ‘Team Nigeria’ to the Africa Seniors Athletics Championships have landed in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon.
The 40 team made up of 20 men and20 women landed in Douala before midday Thursday ahead of the competition which starts Friday.
The women will compete for honours in eleven events, 100m, 4×100m relay, 100m hurdles, 400m, 4×400m relay, 800m, Long and High Jump, Discus, Hammer and Javelin.
While the men are to compete in the 100m, 4×100m relay, 200m, 400m, 4×400m relay, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Decathlon.
Speaking with journalists before leaving for Cameroon, the 100m hurdles world record holder,Tobi Amusan said they are going to Douala to display their talents.
“We are Nigerians, and we are going to Douala to show that spirit of ‘we can do it.”
Newly crowned 100m queen, Favour Ofili said: “I am confident we will top the medals table in Douala.”
Long jumper, Ese Brume also promised to do her best to ensure Nigeria finishes well in Douala.
