YUCATECO boss state reasons for boxing seminar

The Chief Executive Officer of YUCATECO Boxing League Omonlei Yakubu Imadu says that the need to change the narratives of Nigerian boxing led to the holding of a two day seminar for pugilists as they get ready for the Season 2 of the boxing league.

YUCATECO Boxing League last week organised a two day seminar for boxers and coaches, where carefully selected resource persons led by former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani lectured them on various topics aimed at preparing them well as boxers.

Speaking to newstap com.ng, he explained that having recorded huge success in the maiden edition of the league, he felt it was necessary to go beyond the tournament and organise a seminar where experts will speak to them on how they can be successful boxers.

” The seminar was timely because boxing has gone scientific and for a boxer to excel, he must be conversant with those things that will prevent him from succeeding in the profession and that’s what this seminar succeeded in doing.

“When you look at the carefully selected topics, you’ll discover that we took into cognizance those things that work against athletes like taking performance enhancing drugs and signing wrong contracts amongst others and I believe that the participants were highly enriched by the seminar.

On the Season 2 of the money spinning League, he noted that all the 12 clubs that will participate in the league are ready noting that it will be action filled when hostilities begins early next month.

” As you’re aware, we’re ready to go in Season 2 and all the clubs are eagerly waiting for the commencement of the second edition of the league. And with an increase prize money, we expect to see fire works throughout the duration of the league”, he concluded
