Edo PDP Primary, sign of what to expect in September -Ilaboya

Owan West local government Council Chairman, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, has congratulated Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki on his emergence as the standard flag bearer of the ruling People’s Democrats Party (PDP) in the just concluded Primary election in the State.

Ilaboya, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Hassan Otinau, which was made available to journalists in Benin City, shortly after official announcement of the results, stated that the Governor’s victory was a sign that the PDP delegates have implicit  confidence in the  ‘Wake and See’ Governor’s  ability to provide adequate representation for the people Edo State.

The Council Chairman  noted that the outcome will be replicated in the September 19polls, saying Obaseki will be duly returned as Governor of the State.

“I am very delighted to congratulate our amiable Governor on his emergence as the standard bearer of our great party, PDP. We are proud of what he has been doing for the state and the people and this victory will be told for a very long time.

“We wish him the very best as he prepares for his re-election, which by the grace of God and the will of Edo People, the victory is sure as his emergence will propel the state into a glorious future.

“The journey before now was long, but God has made it possible.

“On behalf of the people of Owan West Council, accept my esteemed congratulations.”

He expressed appreciation to Owan West Delegates for speaking loudly through the ballot.

Meanwhile, as a mark of Governor Obaseki’s  acceptance, all other contestants which include: Kenneth Imasuagbon, Gideon Ikhine and Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama stepped down for Governor Obaseki few moments before voting began.

Breakdown of the results shows that a total of 2,234 delegates from the 18 LGAs of the State participated in the exercise.
