Professional wrestling, is a form of entertainment combining sporting and theatrical performances. Each fight pits wrestlers against each other in a ring, reproducing the codes of combat sports while integrating rules and conventions specific to the discipline and its regional specificities.
In its first form, professional wrestling was mainly similar to traditional wrestling. It was expanded over time with a varied technical arsenal (shots, keys, holds, projections, reversals, acrobatic maneuvers).
These technical components are sometimes invented by the practitioners, sometimes borrowed from other martial arts or inspired by other elements of popular culture (cinema, dance, sport, etc.).
Already present on the African continent, professional wrestling is coming to Benin Republic under the supervision and authorization of bodies such as the Pro- Wrestling Africa ( PWA) , the Golden Wrestling Federacy ( GWF) and the Allied Independent Wrestling Federations (AIWF),
Speaking on the inauguration, Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa, Olusesan Olukoya who will be leading other Executive members of the body to perform the inauguration assured that with the berthing of wrestling in Benin Republic, the body will intensify efforts towards spreading the wrestling gospel to other countries in the West Coast of Africa and the entire African continent.
The inauguration will also have the President of Togo CATCH, Habib Adam in attendance while goodwill message will be received from renowned wrestler/ Dentist, The Golden Boy Jim McDowell who is the founder of Golden Wrestling Federacy based in Florida United States of
America.
