President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled his cabinet, sacking five ministers and appointing seven new ones as part of his administration’s effort to rejig his government.
Apart from sacking five ministers and appointing seven new ones for Senate confirmation, the President also reassigned ten others to new ministerial portfolios as well as renaming of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development to the Ministry of Regional Development to oversee the Regional Development Commissions and scrapping to the Ministry of Sports Development and transferring its functions to the National Sports Commission, among others.
The sacked ministers include: Uju- Ken
Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs
Lola Ade-John, the Minister of Tourism
Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education
Abdullahi Gwarzo, the Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development
Jamila Ibrahim, the Minister of Youth Development.
Among the new nominees are,; Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, marking the official end of suspended Betta Edu’s tenure.
Other nominees include Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha for the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State for Education.
Meanwhile, President Ahmed Tinubu has appointed seasoned football administrator, Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
Dikko, the Kaduna State-born football administrator, was the Chairman of the League Management Company responsible for the management of the Nigerian Professional Football League.
He previously served as a consultant for the Nigerian House of Representatives on Sports committee
