The 1996-02 Set of Epe Grammar School has donated scrabble equipment to the students as part of their preparations for the school’s 70th anniversary which holds next Thursday.
The team led by the EGOSA National President, Olushola Kehinde Alade-Raji said they were delighted and proud to show solidarity with the institution which was instrumental in their formative age and career development.
Scrabble as a unique game has been confirmed as a sport which helps in developing players mentally especially, students in areas of articulation, vocabulary, critical thinking and problem solving.
Equipment donated included several copies of starters study guide, five Students learning boards, one Pro star board and one PANASA demo board.
Receiving the equipment from the Old Students Association on behalf of the school were Principals of the Junior School, Muhammed Jimoh
and Adeshola Ayodele of the Senior School.
While presenting the boards, Chairman of the 96/02 set Hakeem Olaribigbe said they were really excited to give back to the school by contributing to it’s development as it celebrates 70th anniversary.
He revealed that the gesture was also a signal to officially establish a scrabble club and foundation in the school which was established in 1954.
He added that the playing equipment would also be important to the students for preparing for a competition which would be introduced during the School’s 70th anniversary celebration next week Thursday.
Other present at the presentation were members of the EGOSA ’96/02 set; Mutiu Gbenga Ibrahim; General Secretary, Mariam Adeshola Folorunsho; Welfare Office, Musa Gbolahan Rasaki; National Administrative Secretary and the students.
Lukman Abdul (Senior) and Temitope Gbogi (Junior) were other school representatives while Okere Joseph and Paul Gbadegesin were scrabble instructors.
