..Says league system is novel to Nigerian boxing
The Commander 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army Brig. Gen. A.M Tukur has commended the impact of the Yucateco boxing league on Olympic grade boxers in the country.
Tukur made the remarks on the sidelines of the week-12 event of the boxing league held at the Nigerian Army 3 Brigade Headquarters, Bukavu Barracks in Kano state.

General who was a special guest of honour at the event held on Saturday praised the dexterity displayed by the young pugilists as he calls on other boxing outfits to emulate the pragmatic model of Yucateco Boxing Promotions.
” I have followed for a while what Mr. Imadu and his team are doing with the boxing league, and when I got the invitation to attend this event, I didn’t give it a second thought, I am impressed with what l have seen here today and i hope those running Nigerian sports are watching closely”.
Some of the highpoints of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Yucateco Boxing Recognition Award to selected sports administrators in the North-West zone, as well as the donation of boxing gloves and other training equipment to the Kano state boxing association by Yucateco Boxing Promotions.
Twenty-four (24) boxers across the North-West states competed in twelve bouts in week 12 of the Yucateco boxing league.
Twelve (12) accredited boxing clubs are vying for the grand prize of N50 Million naira in Season 2 of the fight league.
