Anambra State Govt to launch new security outfit
As part of it’s efforts to improve the security of life and property in Anambra State, the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has announced that a new technology driven security outfit will be set up in the state in January 2025.
He stated this while briefing the press on security situation in the state; saying that the Bill backing up the outfit is currently at the State House of Assembly and will be passed soon
The technology based security outfit to be known as”Operation Udo ga adi’.(Peace will reign) according to the Governor, will be stationed at every nook and cranny of the state and the bushes, assuring that with the new arrangement, .everyone found living in the bush will be flushed out and destroyed as nobody lives in the bush.
The Governor also explained that there will be active phone numbers for giving informations just as he warned that anyone who gives support of any kind to criminals who claim to be agitators will be treated the same way as the criminals.
Giving further insight on the operations of the security outfit, Soludo said there will be stop and search even as he advised people to corporate with the exercise.
Governor Soludo also advised all the traditional rulers and President Generals of town unions in the state to report to the government bushes where criminals set up camps in their communities, warning that any traditional ruler or President General who fails to report the location or the camps or allow criminals to set up camp in any part of their communities, such camp when discovered; the land will be cleared and automatically taken over by the Government.
“With the new arrangement any
building where kidnapped victims are kept will be cleared and automatically taken over by the Government and any land unknown gunmen set up camp, the President General or traditional ruler of the town must immediately report to the state security outfit otherwise the land will be taken over by the Government.
“Any community that see criminals as savior, praise or support them, such individual or individuals in the community will be identified and treated like the criminals.
The governor also assured Anambrarians that the State Government is determined to clear Ihiala LGA, Orumba North and South from the criminals noting that there is an intensed clearing operations currently going on in the three Local Government Areas
“There are four special forces currently fight!ng in Ihiala and two in Orumba North and South to clear these criminals and the war is ongoing and must be won.
“Anambra State Government have also arrested more than 3,000 unknown gun men. 90% of them are Igbos while 70% of the arrested ones are not from Anambra State and we’re determined to make Anambra State free of criminals”, the governor assured.
