Senator Enoh highlights importance of automobile industry in the country’s economic growth
Honourable Minister of State for Industry Senator John Owan Enoh says that the automobile industry holds immense potential towards the country’s economic growth and recovery.
He stated this in Lagos on Monday during an Automotive Industry Stakeholders Conference.
The conference with the theme ‘ Strategy For the Current and Sustainable Future of the Auto Industry in Nigeria enabled the industry stakeholders brain storm and come out with solutions on how to revamp the country’s once viable automotive industry.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Minister noted that as the country push for economic transformation, the auto industry holds immense potential for job creation, technological advancement and reduced import dependency which are key elements of economic recovery.
Senator Enoh also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting local manufacturing, creating access to finance for auto manufacturers, and promoting environmentally sustainable automotive practices.
He also stated that collaboration between government, industry stakeholders, and partners like United Nations Development Organisations ( UNIDO) is key and working together will help to position Nigeria’s auto industry for global success.
The Minister, commended the National Automotive Design and Development Council ( NADDC), Federal Ministry of Finance, United Nations Development Organisations ( UNIDO) and Nigeria Airspace Management Agency ( NAMA) for their invaluable contributions in the conference noting that with good synergy, Nigeria automobile industry will move forward.
