Smart City Hold Warri Wolves In Ozoro
Smart City football club of Lagos continued their brilliant form in the NNL season after a hard fought barren draw with Warri Wolves on Sunday, at the Ozoro stadium, Delta state.
The highly anticipated game was heavily contested with both sides pressing with vigour and determination to get all maximum points by both sides proved futile, as both teams shared the spoils in a match day five NNL clash.
City had to play some part of the second half with ten men as, their captain and defence stalwart, Tunde Adejokun, was shown a controversial red card after he got a second yellow with about ten minutes left to play. City didn’t allow the red card to affect them, as they fought with their lives to make sure they go back to Lagos with a positive result and their efforts paid off with a valuable point away from home.
Man of the match, Segun Oyebode, who put up a sterling and mouth watering display, said he and his team are grossly grateful to God, that despite the stress and hitches they faced in the journey, they were able to get a palatable result with a clean sheet.
” I thank Almighty God for the good result and man of the match award. it’s a double reward for our doggedness and determination, and I give God all the glory for showing up for us,” he said.
“I want to heavily appreciate our President for his massive and swift response always, this result is for him and the entire city conglomerate, because they deserve it, and they deserve all the joy and happiness they’re getting in the few weeks old season” he concluded.
Smart City played out a goalless draw in a week five of the NNL season. Despite playing some time with ten men, City now have seven points from three games, with two outstanding games to play.
