Inter Lagos crowned Lagos State FA Champion

The dream of Ikorodu City to win the Lagos FA trophy a record three times back – to – back was dashed by NNL side Inter Lagos who defeated them 5-4 penalties to be crowned the new champion of the competition in the state

The finals decided at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium), saw both teams displaying good football artistry to the delight of the fans but all their efforts to score a goal was not successful and after recording a goalless 90 minutes, spot kick was used to decide the eventual winner.

In the resultant penalty shoot out ,both teams missed a kick each to leave scores at 4-4. However Inter Lagos have their goalkeeper to thank for converting his own kick after Ikorodu City failed to convert theirs.

Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Gafar Liameed said he was not surprised with their victory considering that they’re doing well in the NNL.
” The result is a good development for Lagos State football because when you watch the two teams, you will agree with me that they have quality players.
” I’m also not surprised with Inter Lagos winning the 2025 Lagos FA Cup because even at the NNL, they’re in top four which is an indication that when they gain promotion to the Premier League they will do the state and country proud

President of Inter Lagos, Lanre Vigo attributed his team’s victory to discipline, hard work, good fighting spirit and unity of purpose.

” I believe we were able to win the trophy because of team unity. All the players where playing for each other which helped us greatly in carting away the trophy.

On what to expect from his team at the President Federation Cup, he expressed confidence that his players will give a good account of themselves and at least get to the semi- finals just as he announced that their plan is to take the Premier League by storm when promoted
