K.O Mbadiwe University gets NUC accreditation for Architecture, Mathematics

Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, KOMU, in Ideato South LGA, Imo State, has announced the achievement of a perfect score in the 2024 October/November accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission, NUC.
Vice Chancellor of KOMU, Professor Ikechukwu N. S. Dozie disclosed that the NUC through a formal communication dated April 30, 2025, signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation, confirmed that the university secured full accreditation for its B.Sc. Architecture and B.Sc. Mathematics programmes.
Prof. Dozie hinted that the latest milestone brings the total number of fully accredited programmes at the university to 17 and reinforces the university’s commitment to academic rigour and excellence.
According to him, the fully accredited programmes cuts across multiple faculties, showcasing the university’s diverse academic offerings.
He said, “In the Faculty of Science, students can pursue B.Sc. Degrees in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Physics, and Animal & Environmental Biology. The Faculty of Social & Management Sciences offers B.Sc. programmes in Accounting, Finance & Banking, Business Administration, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, and Political Science.
Meanwhile, the Faculty of Arts provides B.A. Degrees in English & Literary Studies, History and International Relations, and Linguistics.
“This comprehensive portfolio reflects the university’s dedication to equipping students with knowledge and skills for global competitiveness.”
The Vice-Chancellor credited the successes recorded by his administration to divine guidance, the unwavering support of Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, and the hard work of the university’s staff and students.
He highlighted the Governor’s generous contributions during preparations for the accreditation saying they were instrumental to securing the accreditation of the various academic courses
Professor Dozie further praised the university community for their diligence and commitment, which, according to him, have positioned KOMU as a beacon of educational excellence and a reference point in the comity of varsities.
He added, “Looking ahead, the university is preparing to present four additional programmes for the 2025 October/November accreditation exercise: B.Sc. Marketing, B.Sc. Entrepreneurship, B.Sc. Industrial Relations & Personnel Management, and B.A. Philosophy.
These additions underscore the institution’s forward-thinking approach to meeting the evolving needs of students and industries.”
