NNL: Kanu, Ikpeba for Super 8 opener

The NNL Super 8 will be an assemblage of not just the league players, but will be graced by two legends of Nigerian football Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba.
The duo who are both products of the Nigerian league assured NNL Chairman George Aluo that they will grace the play- off as a mark of their confidence in the league and also to boost the morale of the players.
According to Aluo, “The Super 8 play- off is really generating huge interest with confirmation by two Former Super Eagles legends Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba that they will attend the games. Both legends spoke with me and assured they will grace the opener on July 5. In fact Kanu said he is shelving an Overseas trip ostensibly to be part of the Super 8. He said he is impressed with how the NNL is being transformed and pledged to use his clout to attract sponsors to the league.”
On his part, former ACB FC of Lagos and Monaco Fc of France ace Ikpeba said he is happy the Super 8 is taking place in Asaba, saying it is a perfect venue to wrap up what he called a fantastic season.
Kanu and Ikpeba are both products of the Nigerian league where they plied their trade with defunct Iwuanyanwu Nationale of Owerri and ACB of Lagos before hitting it big at the international scene.
The presence of the two former African footballers of the year will inspire NNL’S youngsters.
The play -off is taking place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba from July 5th- 12th.
