UZODIMMA EXPRESSES PRIDE IN NIGERIA’S RESILIENCE, PROGRESS @ 65

As Nigeria celebrates her 65 years of Independence, the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has expressed pride in the nation’s resilience and progress over the past six and a half decades.
In a broadcast to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary,Governor Uzodimma acknowledged the challenges Nigeria has faced, and emphasized the importance of unity and collective responsibility in building a greater nation, aligning with this year’s theme: “Nigeria at 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation”
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since gaining independence in 1960, the governor highlighted significant advancements in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure, noting the increase in universities from one in 1960 to over 200 today. This he said has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s status as one of Africa’s largest producers of skilled labor.
Governor Uzodimma noted recent economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of exchange rates, which have fostered transparency and boosted investor confidence.
He praised the ongoing improvements in agriculture and solid minerals, which have led to a trade surplus for six consecutive quarters.
The governor also underscored the progress made in Imo State, citing the delivery of over one hundred and twenty quality road projects and the establishment of the Imo Health Insurance Scheme, which provides affordable healthcare to thousands.
He emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure and skills development to prepare the youth for future job opportunities.
Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of workers and senior citizens, highlighting Imo State’s record-breaking minimum wage of one hundred and four thousand naira, well above the national standard.
He therefore assured the people of Imo of brighter days ahead and encouraged them to remain hopeful and dedicated to nation-building.
