Banana Island Multicultural Festival Ends In Grand Style
The playground of Banana Island, Lagos Saturday, October, 4, 2025 came alife when residents of the highbrow area of Lagos State, held the third edition of it’s annual multicultural festival.
Tagged ‘ Global Rhythm In one Island’, the carnival like event which lived up to expectation, attracted people from different cultural backgrounds and embassies that cut across Africa , Asia and Europe who showcased their foods and cultural attires at their various stands.
Speaking at the event, Habiba Sharon Yakubu of the South Korean Cultural Centre, one of the organisers of the event said that the Diaspora multicultural event was put together to enable Nigerians have a feel of the cultures and food of other countries even as she expressed happiness with the successes recorded in the event since it’s maiden edition.
“The whole event has been awesome. You can see a lot of people displaying their cultural attires, dance and food which helps to cement cultural relationship between people from different geopolitical zones and continents.
” And we at the South Korean Embassy are happy to be involved with the festival because Nigeria and South Korea have a lot of cultural exchange programmes and this is one of them”, she stressed
Kayode Bamgbose, a resident of the area who was adorned with Korean flag, said he was fascinated by Korean food and hospitality which made him identify with the country.
He commended the organizers of the event; saying that Nigeria need more of such festival to keep people abreast of the culture and food of others.
The one day multicultural event, involved carnival parade, music, games, dance, business fair, raffle draw, traditional outfit/ parade, food testing and Korean musical performance.
People also had the opportunity to taste food of other countries such as; South Korea, Egypt, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Turkey, Indonesia, Belgium amongst others.
It also enabled vendors to display their wares ranging from cultural attires, handbags, drinks and different Nigerian delicacies.
