A new sport to be used in propagating peace to all the nooks and crannies of the world has been unveiled in Lagos.
Known as ‘ Our Sport, Our Peace, yes is our own ooooh, it consists of five types of sports; Torch Relay and Marathon Sport, Trott Sport, Rail Sport, Crawling Race and Crawling play ball.

Performing the unveiling Saturday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, President and founder of the sport, Messenger Benson Imiavan Ovbiosa, A.K.A Coach Bendo who was accompaigned by the Secretary General, Ijeoma Nkuche stated that he got the inspiration to form the sport which is under the auspices of ‘Unite The World Peace Foundation ‘ about 20 years ago because of the need to maintain peace in the volatile world where we live in, which he said has been taken over by wars, hatred, crime, kidnapping for ransome, envy and other social vices.

” This sport is our own. You know that since Nigeria’s independence in 1960, the country has been spending billions of naira to promote sports and there’s need for us to have a sport we call our own, develop it and use it to unite the world”, he stressed.

Explaing further how he got the inspiration, the physical training coach noted that sometime ago while he was taking a woman through physical training, he discovered that the woman cannot run and even when he introduced jogging to her, she was very slow but by the time he intentionally introduced her to trotting sport, it helped her burn out fats in her body.

” Also there was a day, I was watching animals on how they play and run and from there I got the inspiration to introduce crawling sports. You will also notice that there’s a torch Relay. When that torch is lighted, it’s very cool which stands for peace. We are going to organize a marathon race on it to champion peace in the country”, he explained.

He further posited that very soon, they’ll be having monthly programmes for all the games to enable it develop faster and gain more ground even as he stated there will be training for trainers and technical partners.

The President while appealing to corporate Nigeria to sponsor their activities to enable them spread the gospel of the sports to all over the world announced their intension of taking the sport to other parts of the country.

“Our plan is to take the sport to other parts of the country, starting from the 774 Local Government Areas, move it to the states and then the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja where we’ll invite the Chairman of the National Sports Commission and the Director General of the Commission and then introduce it to the President”, he concluded.
