SWAN rolls out drum for league chairmen, others as 60th anniversary awards ceremony holds today

All arrangements are now in place for the much expected 60th year anniversary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria holding today Friday, October 31, 2025 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The anniversary which is to celebrate the Diamond jubilee of robust sports reporting by the country’s sporting community will also be used to honour some veteran journalists and some eminent Nigerians who have contributed to the development of the country’s sports eco system.
Top on the list of awardees is the Chairman of Nigeria National League Mr. George Aluo who will be bestowed with veteran journalist sports award.
Others to be celebrated are Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye Chairman of Nigeria Premier League, ( NPFL), His Excellency, Silas Agara, Chairman of Nation Wide League One ( NLO), Godwin Enakhena, Chairman of Nigeria National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA) and Rev. Samuel Ikpea, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club amongst others.
Meanwhile the National President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Isaiah Benjamin has congratulated all the awardees, expressing hope that the award will spur them to do more for the development of the country’s sports.
“On behalf of all sports writers in Nigeria, I want to congratulate all our awardees for accepting to be part of this history making event and I hope that this recognition will spur you to continue to contribute your quota towards the development of the country’s sports. And I say a very big congratulations to all of you and hope to see you in Abuja for this all important occasion”, he said.
