Abdulmumin Jimoh wins Lagos Unified Meet

It was another statement of consistency as Abdulmumin Jimoh clear the field to win the Lagos Unified Scrabble Meet on Saturday with just few days to this month’s 2025 World English-Language Scrabble Players Association Championship (WESPAC) in Ghana.
The Ogun State-branded Word Warrior who has been impressive at tournaments this year, won more converts as he claimed the top-prize and a trophy.
His devastating form has seen him finished at top at the Lekki Scrabble Classics just like he did at the BIST and the BSP tournaments.
Jimoh who is a key member of Team Nigeria to the WESPAC in Accra, completed the 10-round tournament with 8 wins and 2 loses as he garnered the highest cumulative points of +996 to edge his closest contenders, James Evruje (+ 509) and John Ayedun (+359) who also recorded the same wins.
Olumide Oyejide surge to 4th position with 7-3 +761 ahead of Segun Durojaiye ( 7-3 +529), Joseph Okere ( 7-3 +558), Hassan Wasiu ( 7-3 +266), Salau Samson ( 7-3 +234), Adegbola Abiola (
7-3 -8) while teenage sensation Sophia Ekeruche completed the top placement with a record of 6 wins, 3 defeats with +529 cumulative points.
All top 10 finishers won various cash prizes while players ranked from 11th to 15th were presented with non-cash gifts.
50 players participated in the event.
