The Nigeria boxing team to the highly anticipated 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia have arrived at the host nation in the early hours of Monday ahead of the 6th edition of the event in Riyadh
The contingent led by coach Oyeleye Abayomi has Raheem Ridwan (65kg) welterweight and Adeshina Zainab (51kg) Flyweight
The boxers had a three weeks intensive training camp in Abuja, the nation’s capital, before they departed for Riyadh on Sunday.
This year’s edition of the Games will run from November 7th to 21st in Riyadh. The boxing event will commence on Thursday the 5th of November.
The Vice President of The Nigerian Boxing Federation Hon. Omonlei Imadu, who visited the boxers in camp days before the departed for Riyadh, said the Federation is hopeful of a good outing based on the readiness of the team.
The Games will engage athletes from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member countries in a variety of sports, with 21 sports and 2 para-sports selected for this year’s games.
This marks the second time Saudi Arabia is hosting, having previously hosted the first edition in 2005.
