The Honourable Commissioner For Education Bayelsa State, Dr. Gentle Emelah has thrown his support behind 1st Governor Diri top-16 Table Tennis Championship slated for 30th November to December 1st, 2025, in Yenagoa.
Honourable Gentle made this known in his office on Friday during a courtesy visit from the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association led by its Chairman, Amaebi Ebikpolade Stow
Gentle Emelah noted that the need to endorse the biggest table tennis showpiece in the history of Bayelsa State became imperative due to the continuous investment of Governor Diri in sports.
The education boss expressed that the Ministry of Education is pleased to work hand in glove with the organizers, particularly the State Table Tennis Association, with the aim of giving the youths in Bayelsa a chance to nurture their dreams to reality.
In earlier remarks, the Chairman Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association, Amaebi Stow, said that the visit was to officially invite the Honourable Commissioner for the tournament as a lover and veteran of the sport.
Stressing that the championship will not only feature top 16 ranked Table Tennis players in the country but also provide a two-day schedule for veterans to test themselves running through 27th to 28th November 2025.
Amaebi Stow, who doubles as the Technical Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, intimated Dr. Gentle Emelah on the programmes of the State’s Table Tennis Association and the need for collaboration with the Ministry of Education
Stow on behalf of the organisers used the medium to solicit support from Dr. Gentle, who is a table tennis veteran and lover of the sport.
