Lawal, Tewogbade win Ikoyi Club 1938 Bluechip Technologies Table Tennis Tournament
..As Sponsor promises an exciting sixth edition


The table tennis section of Ikoyi Club 1938 came alive Friday, November, 14, 2025 when the weeklong 5th edition of the annual Bluechip Technologies Table Tennis Tournament came to a successful end.
The championship which served off Monday, November, 10, 2025 with preliminary matches came to the climax on Friday when the finalists in different categories entertained the audience with good serves, strokes and footwork.
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of Bluechip Technologies, sponsor of the tournament, Alhaji Kazeem Tewogbade commended the Local Organizing Committee, umpires, volunteers, athletes and the entire management of the club for it’s unwavering support, hospitality, partnership and dedication to excellence which led to a seamless tournament, noting that the competition shows how sports brings people together.
” I want to commend Ikoyi Club 1938 for it’s unwavering support and the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by all the seasoned participants and rising talents since the commencement of this championship.
” Over the past four editions, this tournament has shown how people build relationships across the table as well as how sports brings people together and that’s what we’re celebrating today

In his own remarks , Chairman of Table Tennis Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, Folunsho Ajilore commended the company for it’s consistency in sponsoring the tournament through which players now enjoy better resources and a stronger platform to train, keep fit and excel in the ping pong game.

” Their sponsorship is a powerful statement of believe which translates to believe in sportsmanship and the believe that champions can come from anywhere, when given the chance to grow and I’m happy that through this tournament, we have new champions today”, he concluded.
Meanwhile in the finals of the men’s singles event, Kehinde Lawal defeated the sponsor, Kazeem Tewogbade by 4-2 of 11-9, 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 10-12 and 11-7 to be crowned new champion while the sponsors wife Adebola Tewogbade was too strong an opponent for Mrs. Iwuiwu Abiola whom she defeated in three sets of 11-8, 11-9 and 11-6 to be crowned champion of the Ladies singles event.
In the men’s doubles event, the duo of Seyi Oki and Emeka Ofor recorded a 3-1 victory of 11-7, 5-11, 11-8, 11-9 over Kazeem Tewogbade and Tokumbo Jimoh to win the event.
Also in the men’s championship finals, David Udoh defeated Yinka Arewa by 3-1 of 11-7, 11-9, 9-11 and 11-6 to be crowned winner and gain promotion to the Premiership category.
Speaking on his victory, the new champion, Kehinde Lawal attributed it to hard work and consistent training even as he boasted that he has what it takes to defend the title next year.
He commended the sponsor for putting together the tournament which he said has helped him further develop his game.
On her own part, the women champion, Mrs. Adebola Tewogbade attributed her victory to experience, concentration and good service which she says has been her greatest weapon in such tournaments.
The winner of the Men’s singles event went home with a trophy and N1.5 million while the runners up got N750,000
Winner of the women version got a trophy and N1 million while the runners-up went home with N500,000.
Also winners of the doubles event and runners-up went hone with N1 million and N500,000 respectively just as winner of the veteran category received N1.250,000.
Highlight of the finals was the cutting of the 50th birthday cake of the sponsor and a presentation of his portrait to him by the club.
