Nigerian Wrestlers turn attention to West African Wrestling Tournament after concluding Regional Wrestling Education and Training camp in Republic of Benin

The delegation of team Nigeria to Ouidah, Benin Republic, has shifted focus to the maiden West African Wrestling Tournament after concluding the Regional Wrestling Education and Development Training

The week long training which started since November 24th 2025, has its focus on coaches, referees, administrators, and wrestlers development under the supervision of Director of Development, United World Wrestling (UWW), Mrs Deqa Niamkey.

Reacting to the knowledge acquired through the regional training program, the Vice President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Chris Amkpila who led the delegation said the impact of the training will bring desirable change in attitude, technical skills, and knowledge.

“The main objective of this camp was to refresh the concept of evaluation and impact assessment. This is descriptive in nature, and we will use the knowledge gained to redesign our Federation’s programme and training to reach the ultimate goal.”

Meanwhile, the African Regional Competition will begin Saturday 29th November 2025, featuring Olympic Styles (Freestyle Wrestling and Women Wrestling) and Beach wrestling with 6 athletes representing Nigeria
