Family Petitions IGP over Delayed Police Action on Case of Land Grabbing

The Taiwo family in Osun State has written to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, through their lawyer, Mr. Jonathan Ekperusi, questioning why the Ikire Divisional Police Headquarters in Osun State failed to take action and bring justice in a case of land grabbing and malicious damage reported against one Olaoye Wakeel, a.k.a. Tesojue, since 2023.

A petition signed by Mr. Akeem Taiwo and made available to newsmen accused the Osun Police Command of trying to shield a criminal and pervert justice; saying they have reported a case of land grabbing and violent attack against some members of our family by a known notorious thug, and no tangible action was taken by the Police.

“I will recall that one Olaoye Wakeel, a.k.a. Tesojue, from the Olaoye family maliciously razed our farmland situated at Isale Oko farmland in Ikire, Irewole Local Government of Osun State, and destroyed several cash crops such as cocoa, kolanut, and palm trees, and several economic trees, like teak.

“This same hoodlum also led some thugs to the farmland to chase away people we leased the farmland to, in an attack that led to several people sustaining various degrees of injuries, and he also went after our son, Idris Taiwo, who was the direct beneficiary of this farmland, being the son of the owner, which led to the boy fleeing the country to save his life.”
“We are calling on the Inspector General of Police to intervene on our behalf because this land grabber (Olaoye Wakeel, a.k.a. Tesojue) is still terrorizing us and sending us warnings that we should not dare to step on the land that rightfully belongs to our family again if we cherish our lives,” said Akeem Taiwo, who signed the petition.
The family has rallied together, determined to reclaim their rights and protect their heritage. They fear for their safety but are resolute in seeking justice and restoring peace to their lives.
