Super Eagles must compensate Nigerians with Afcon –Oloworemo
Chairman of Ekiti State Football Association Oloworemo Oluwole has urged the Super Eagles to win this year’s Afcon.
Speaking in Fez , Morocco, Oloweremo said winning the Afcon will serve as compensation to Nigerians for missing the FIFA World Cup ticket.
“Nigerians are still sad over the world cup crises and our boys should understand that they need to bring the Afcon trophy back home which will bring joy and excitement to over two hundred million Nigerians.
“Anything apart from the trophy will not redeem our image in international football and we deserve to be compensated”, he said
The Ekiti FA boss is appealing to coach Eric Chelle to maintain his starting 11 as a win over Uganda will improve our head to head record against the Cranes.
” I don’t think we should tinker our squad just because we have qualified for the knockout stage .A win today will improve our rating because out of 8 matches between us, we only won 2 and drew 2 which is shocking to me.
“We have started well wining two matches and we need to maintain these perfect run up to the final. I’m happy the NFF is giving all the support they need to prosecute the Afcon and nothing but the trophy is expected from them.
Oloweremo, said Ekiti state football Association under his leadership will hold series of activities in 2026.
These include; the Ekiti Local League, Ekiti U-15 and 17 boys and girls league , Akin Oyebode Gold Cup and BAO Continuity Cup.
He commended the state government led by governor oyebamiji for the ongoing Construction of 6 stadia in Ekiti State which upon completion will improve football and sports in General in the fountain of knowledge state .
The project are sited in Ado, Ilawe, Irepodun, Efon Alaye, Aramoko and Ijero Local Government Areas.
“We are seeking for more enabling environment and once this projects are completed, we will not rely on the Kayode Oluyemi Stadium alone to achieve our objectives which is to discover talents and nurture them.
“It will further aid our school and Grassroots vision because we want to organize inter schools competition across Ekiti State”, he concluded.
