Many feared dead in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash
A fatal accident occurred on Thursday opposite the NASFAT junction along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with many passengers feared dead.
PUNCH Online observed from a video recorded by its staff at the scene, Mrs. Mercy Eboigbe, that an 18-seater commercial bus coming from Lagos ran underneath a truck travelling from Ibadan, which was reportedly making a U-turn near the NASFAT area.
The impact forced the bus to run underneath the truck, leaving several passengers trapped and many others unconscious at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said emergency responders and residents were making frantic efforts to rescue victims as of the time of filing this report.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, said the command had been alerted of the crash but had yet to receive a full report.
Rescue operations were ongoing as of press time.
