Supporters Club back Eagles’ to lift AFCON trophy.

. Seeks Government Patronage.

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club have expressed optimism that the Super Eagles can bring home thIs year’s AFCON trophy.

President General of the Club ,Dr. Rafiu Ladipo stated this while celebrating the team’s 2- 0 win over Algeria, Saturday night in Marrakech.

Ladipo is thrilled by the Eagles performance and urged the team to go all out for victory against Morocco in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

The Supporters boss urged Nigeria to support the team in their quest to lift a fourth AFCON title.

“We are proud of their performance and we are urging them to repeat same performance against Morroco in the semi-final on Wednesday.

“We gave them all the support and we were delighted to see them score two goals in the second half.

Ladipo is however not happy with lack of patronage from the Government to the supporters Club.

“The Federal government must recognize us. We have been spending our time , resources; both in finance and in kind supporting all the national teams for over 70 years.

“Players and officials have always been rewarded by the Nigerian Government but no one has deemed it fit to reward the Nigeria Football Supporters Club. Our members pull resources together to travel all over the world to support the national teams and as such we need financial support both from government, corporate organisations and public spirited individuals.

“Over 40 of our members are here and we are the ones taking care of their feeding, accommodation, transportation and other logistics. Many times we leave the comfort of our homes and face brazen cold weather all in a bid to cheer our team to success.

” Our efforts not withstanding, over 70 years of mobilizing our members for national assignment and our efforts are not well appreciated by the government and we want that to be looked into”, he stated
