Why I Resigned As Enyimba’s Sporting Director – Ekwueme

Ex- internation Ifeanyi Ekwueme said that he decided to quit as the Sporting Director of Enyimba Fc because he was not comfortable with a situation where others handle his responsibilities while he bore the blame for poor performance.
He stated this while giving insights of why he resigned from the position he has occupied for the past three seasons.

In his resignation letter addressed to the club through its Chairman, Kanu Nwankwo, Ekwueme said the decision was taken with mixed emotions, bringing an end to his three-season stint with the Aba-based giants.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Ekwueme noted that his tenure was marked by both successes and challenges.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, the former midfielder expressed gratitude to the Abia State Government and the club’s leadership for the opportunity given to him to serve.

He specifically thanked Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, and and the Chairman Kanu Nwankwo for their support during his time at Enyimba.

Ekwueme, an ex-Nigeria international, joined Enyimba’s management with the aim of contributing to the club’s sustained dominance in Nigerian football.

His resignation now leaves a vacancy in the club’s technical leadership structure as Enyimba look ahead to the remainder of the season.
