FOSFON Announces Death of It’s President Abayomi Whesu

Football and other Sports Followership of Nigeria ( FOSFON) has announced the death of it’s President
Prince Abayomi Olumuyiwa Wilfred Whesu.

Prince Wesu died on December, 31, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 69.

According to the statement signed by the Vice President of the club, Engr. Adebowale Adebayo, Whesu until his death was a strong pillar of the club whose services, good counselling and advice will be greatly missed

The club stated that the vacuum created by his death will be too difficult to fill even as they noted that the club is happy that he lived a fulfilled life.

They prayed that God Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and give the family, friends and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In a related development, the management of Eko Club, Surulere, Lagos has described the death of Whesu who was their one time Sports Secretary as a great loss to the club.

Speaking through its President, Adedeji Surajudeen Lawal, Esq, GCHB, the club described Whesu as an easy going person and perfect gentleman whose death is a big blow to the club.

Meanwhile tributes has been pouring in for Whesu with the President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Oladipo describing him as a very hard working person who did his job as Secretary General with passion, positing that the club will miss him.

According to Oladipo, he worked with him for 18 years during which time he served as Secretary General for 8 years and worked as world wide scribe of the club for 5 years doing his job meticulously to the delight of the members.
” Whesu was a perfect gentle man whom I worked with closely for 18 years. Every member of the club will miss him because he was a jolly good fellow.
” I remember that during his time as Secretary General, former CAF President, Issa Hayatou referred to him as ‘Dogo’ because of his height while then Secretary General of NFA, Sanni Toro addresses him as his colleague which goes to show how he was highly regarded”, he stressed.

The late Whesu who was for many years National Secretary of Nigeria Football Supporters Club before setting up FOSFON will be buried on February, 6th at Atan Cementary, Yaba, Lagos.
