Ghana National Supporters Union Storm Nigeria For Ladipo

The cordial relationship existing between Nigeria Football Supporters Club and their Ghanian counterparts was on display on Thursday, February, 5, 2026 when members of Ghana National Supporters Union (GHAHSU), came in their numbers to felicitate with the President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo on his recent election as Patron of Confederation of African Sports Supporters ( CASS).

Dr. Ladipo was elected to the position, during the association’s conference held at the sidelines of the just concluded African Nations Cup held in Morocco.

Although the inauguration is slated for March this year in Lagos but the 71 man strong Ghana Supporters led by Rev. Nelson Alile, said they were in Nigeria to congratulate Dr Ladipo ahead of the inauguration because of the fatherly role he has played over the years in ensuring the existence of good cordial relationship between Nigerian supporters and their union.

Alile who represented the President of their union, Abraham Boakye who was unable to make the trip because of government official engagement , explained that they were in Nigeria because of the deep respect and admiration they have for him.

In their congratulatory message sent by Abraham Boakye which was read by the Secretary General, Boakye Yiadon, they noted that Ladipo’s leadership, dedication and lifelong commitment to the growth of football supporters across Africa have inspired many of them.

” Today, we do not only celebrate your achievement,but we also reaffirm our brotherhood and solidarity with you. GHANSU is proud to work alongside you and remain fully committed to collaborating with your office for the continued progress of sports development, supporter engagement and African unity on the global stage”, noted the statement.
Receiving them, Dr. Ladipo expressed happiness that the bound of friendship existing between the two supporters union is waxing stronger everyday, even as he promised that he will use his position as Patron of Confederation of African Sports Supporters to bring bring about good working relationship amongst all the continent’s supporters union.

He was particularly excited that his friendship with Abraham Boakye A K A. ‘One Man’ Supporter which started close to three decades ago is still intact, positing that the two clubs share a lot of things in common.
” I’m particularly excited that you people came all the way from Ghana to come and felicitate with me here in Nigeria. It shows that we are one and our relationship will continue to blossom.

“One good thing about our two unions is that although Ghana did not qualify for the last AFCON finals but their supporters club were with us and now that Nigeria will not be going to the 2026 World Cup, our club will support Ghana to represent Africa well at the Mundial”, he assured.

In his own remarks, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev ( Amb) Samuel Ikpea, thanked them for the solidarity visit, assuring that Nigeria will reciprocate the gesture.

Highlights of the visit was a carnival like performance by both clubs who rendered some inspiring music, dance and performances to entertain residence of Surulere and those at the National Stadium
