NBBF President Kida Hails D’Tigress’ Class, Determination In Win Over Philippines

African basketball champions D’Tigress, once again showed talent, class and determination by rallying back from trailing in the first and second quarters of game against Philippines 21-26 and 21-25, to secure big points in the third and fourth quarters with 34-21 and 25-12, to win the game on 101-84 points.
The match was Nigeria’s third in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers ongoing in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France, coming after the loss to South Korea in the second game.
Speaking with NBBF media on the win over Philippines, President of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, described the victory and performance of D’Tigress, as very impressive, and also a continued display of incredible talent, strength, determination, class and panache, by the record winning Afrobasket champions.
“Nigerians are happy with your impressive performances so far, as it resonates your incredible talents and determination to continue to make the country, proud.
“You took the unfortunate loss to South Korea, as a mere blip and bounced back with aplomb. And thus, reassuring Nigerians that you’re ready for the tasks ahead, as you continue to prepare for the World Cup in Berlin, Germany,” Kida said.
He went on to urge the Rena Wakama led team not to relent and strive to improve upon their performances, going forward.
He added that the NBBF remain committed to ensuring that basketball in Nigeria, continues to get the necessary support for development across all levels of the game.
