Chief of Defence Staff Archery Championship Begins In Abuja

The 2026 Chief of Defence Staff inter- service Archery Championship has commenced.
The championship which is holding at Aguiyi Ironsi Sports Complex, Guards Brigade Headquarters, Asokoro, Abuja, began on Wednesday, 25th March and will run through to 27th March, 2026 with teams drawn from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, and Nigerian Air Force participating
The championship is important because qualified athletes will go ahead to represent the Armed Forces at the forthcoming National Open Archery Championship, scheduled to hold from April 20 – 26th, 2026, to be organized by the Nigeria Archery Federation.
Meanwhile, the President of the Nigeria Archery Federation Alhaji Mohammed Baba Abdullahi has commended the Armed Forces for their outstanding support, commitment, and strong followership of the sport.
” I want to commend the Armed Forces for their commitment in the sports of archery. I believe that this championship will produce worthy champions who will represent the Armed Forces in the forthcoming National Open championship and I look forward to receiving them at the event.
” It’s equally important I thank the Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede for approving the hosting of this championship which will go a long way in helping the officers perfect their knowledge of the sports”, he stated
Alhaji Abdullahi, while wishing all participating teams a successful and competitive championship, reaffirmed the
Federation’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening its partnership with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The 2025 edition was won by the Nigerian Army.
