CAFCC: Anyansi dedicates victory to Ikpeazu

Chairman of Enyimba International, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu has dedicated the club’s victory over Orlando Pirates to Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu declaring he made the victory possible with his support.

Anyansi who is still basking in the euphoria of the victory that has seen the club reach the quarterfinals of the tournament said the governor stopped at nothing to ensure Enyimba came out victorious.

“It was a hard earned victory…the boys played with determination and courage…I salute them. I am also grateful to Gov Okezie Ikpeazu and I am dedicating our victory and qualification for the quarterfinals to him. Just ten minutes before the kick off as we were set to file out, His Excellency did something, he reached out to me on phone and prayed for us…he encouraged us to go all out…he assured me we will win…he specifically said we shouldn’t lose faith that victory is certain.”

Continuing, Anyansi said…“Recall that he (Ikpeazu) provided us with a chartered flight to go to Libya for our away game. On our return, he specifically charged the team to go all out against Orlando Pirates. He motivated us and assured us of his support. He matched words with action. In a matter of days, the Enyimba stadium was put in good shape for the night game under floodlight. Anybody who watched the game would agree with me that the stadium is a good advertisement for Nigerian football courtesy of Dr Ikpeazu. With the floodlight and our ability to play at night, the economy of Aba people will get some boost. So, we are not just talking football now, the governor is also making the economy to grow. It can only get better.”

Enyimba would on Friday know their quarterfinal opponents after the draw holding in the Cairo headquarters of CAF.
