Relegation battle: I will do my best to save Heartland -Onu

By George Aluo
Heartland FC of Owerri started the second stanza of the NPFL on a bad note on Sunday in Lagos losing 1-0 to MFM at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
It was a game in which the former Naze Millionaires who can hardly make ends meet now paraded five new players.
Though the new recruits failed to lift Heartland, the club manager, Erasmus Onu remained upbeat that the club would survive the relegation battle.
Onu visibility not happy with the result said he would do his best to save the troubled club.
Onu while commending his players for their efforts noted that they would have salvaged at least a point in Lagos with some element of luck.
“The boys did their best. We will keep fighting and pushing. The task is to see the club escape relegation. I will do my very best to achieve this,” Onu said.
It would be noted that the coach had before the mid season break led Heartland to victories over Enyimba and Lobi while also securing a draw in Katsina and Uyo. However, the results have not been able to take the club out of the red zone as they (Heartland) were completely down and out before Onu’s arrival.
