Abacha planned my death, Abiola, Yaradua says Obasanjo

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former military and civilian President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Federal Republic of Nigeria said that late General Sani Abacha, one time Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces that detained him along side with late Chief M.K.O Abiola, the supposed winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential election and Alhaji Musa Yaradua, a prominent Nigerian politician as aftermath of the annulled election, decreed that non of them will come out alive in detention as one of his strategic measures to perpetrate himself in power.

Obasanjo made the revelation last Saturday at Assemblies of God Church, Ogbor Uvuru Mbaise in Aboh Mbaise local government area of Imo State as a Special Guest of Honour alongside with Mr. Peter Obi during the dedication and commissioning of a multi billion Naira Noah’s Ark architectural masterpiece auditorium, philanthropically built and donated by Barr. Engr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye.

The former President said that among three of them that Abacha planned their death in detention, that he is the only person that was saved and still alive based on the Grace of God.

This he said is among other things that makes him to always be grateful to God for His immense grace and love upon his life.

He described Akagburuonye as a worthy ambassador of God justifying this by quoting 2 Corinthians 5 vs 20 and enjoined him not to relent in his philanthropic services to things of God and humanity at large, despite people’s often misconception based on pettiness, envy and jealousness.

Obasanjo who commissioned the building as well as Akagburuonye’s paradise on earth ancestral country home also expressed gratitude to God for his relationship with Akagburuonye which he said was ignited and cemented by General Lincoln Ogunewe,(Rtd) testifying further that nobody invests in God’s projects without reaping bountifully.

While interacting with Journalists on the state of the nation, Obasanjo said it point blank, that Nigeria tilting towards one political party system as recently being arduced by political pundits and analysts is a mirage that can only happen in China and not in Nigeria.

In dedicating the Noah’s Ark Building as well as Akagburuonye’s palatial ancestral country home, Rev. Abel Ukachi Amadi, PhD, the General Superintendent Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria described the Ark building as a sanctuary for spiritual growth, refuge, succour, and salvation.

Amadi who also expressed immense gratitude to Akagburuonye for his “uncompromising philanthropic gestures and boldness in being an Ambassador of human and kingdom investments” prophesied that anyone who comes to the building for prayers that God will surely answer his or her prayers.

Amadi insisted that the Ark is a place for physical and spiritual safety even as he committed the Philanthropist and his family as well as Obasanjo into God’s hands of protection and good health.

In his key note address, Barr. Engr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye, the philanthropic financier of the historical edifice and National Coordinator of Hope Rising For Imolites (Olile Anya Di) described the Noah’s Ark Church building dedication as a testament to God’s faithfulness and His power of perseverance.

Akagburuonye reiterated that the building is a symbol of faith, obedience, and salvation, noting Noah’s biblical story as God’s powerful reminder promise of saving those, who reposes their trust and confidence in Him.

“I have spared no moment of my life, without expressing gratitude to God Almighty for lifting me from penury to prosperity. I am not doing philanthropy to show off wealth. I know the sacrifices I make annually for kingdom work and empowering humanity.

“It’s of no gain cataloguing the list of my kingdom investments and empowerment to humanity for the past 25 years, because my rewards only comes from God who strengthens me, despite my inadequacies as a man.

” Yes, I am a politician, an icon in Real Estate, a Legal luminary, an expert in Civil Engineering, a reverred business man, and an employer of labour. My coming into politics since 2005 was not accidental. It was borne out of conviction and covenant with God, to also be His instrument in rendering selfless services, visionary and purposeful leadership to my beloved Imo people and Nigerians at large. Hence, when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice.

” It’s an obvious truth that I am not a typical Nigerian politician. It’s equally true, that I have not held any political position in my life, nor have I ever done any government contract. My assets and sources of income are transparently in public domain.

“All my philanthropy for more than 25 years now are products of God’s directives, self efforts, personal wealth, and personal sweat” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to all and sundry for gracing the well attended occasion, especially President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Rev. Abel Ukachi Amadi, PhD, the General Superintendent Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, Nneoma Nwafor Monica Akagburuonye, (Mama Success), members of his immediate family and Hon. Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe, the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise LGA who ably represented Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
