Tokyo 2020: D’Tigress show class in defeat

By George Aluo
Hard fighting D’Tigress early Tuesday morning lost narrowly to highly rated USA by 72-81 points in a game the Nigerian ladies put up an impressive performance.
The encounter was one in which Nigeria led after the first quarter but allowed the US to claw back into the game in the second quarter.
The second quarter was D’Tigress biggest undoing in the game as they allowed US to establish an unassailable lead.
For the Nigerian ladies losing by just nine points was a remarkable improvement having lost to the same team by over 30 points in an exhibition game just one week before the Olympics games.
The D’Tigress would in their next game face France in a tie they must win if they hope to make it out of the group stage.
It would be noted that D’Tigers on their part failed to start their Tokyo 2020 Olympics campaign on a winning note after losing 84-65 to Australia on Sunday.
