Ikoyi Club commissions cutting – edge table tennis hall, ceiling and gym

It was celebration galore on Friday, August, 25, 2023 when the table tennis section of the foremost private recreation club in the country, Ikoyi Club 1938 rolled out the drums to unveil it’s newly renovated playing hall, ceiling and ultra modern gym.
Speaking at the well attended event, Chairman of Ikoyi Club 1938, Chief Tafa Zibiri- Aliu expressed happiness that the club is maintaining it’s leadership position as a pacesetter in providing modern sporting facilities for members; saying that with the facilities, members of the club now have the most modern equipment and conducive environment to enjoy the game of table tennis as well as equipped gym where they can exercise themselves to keep fit and burn out calories.
He explained that the renovation is part of the on-going improvement of facilities in the club, promising that the management of the club will sustain the tempo.
” You’ll agree with me that Ikoyi Club is the leader amongst all recreation clubs in the country in the area of provision of facilities and upgrading of such facilities to be in tandem to what is obtainable in all parts of the world.” “When you look at all our eight sections, be it squash, tennis, badminton, golf and others, you will discover that their facilities have been improved and we’ll continue to upgrade them.
” Kudos must equally go to the executives of the table tennis section and all the members for the wonderful job they did and I urge them not to rest in their oars.
Chairman of Table Tennis Section of the club, Dare Olude explained that when his executive came on board in February, they discovered that most of the facilities were obsolete and so they reached out to some partners and friends who made it possible for the facilities to get a face lift.
On plans to maintain the facilities,, he was emphatic that members will handle it as their personal property knowing fully well that Ikoyi Club is guided by rules and known for it’s pacesetter role in maintenance culture.
Managing Director of Meristem Trustees Limited, Mrs. Damilola Hassan, whose company partnered the club to upgrade the facilities says that she’s happy with the successful completion of the project
Former Commonwealth and African table tennis champion, Atanda Musa described the facilities as comparable to the best anywhere in the world expressing confidence that it will enhance the knowledge of members of the club in the ping pong game.
He commended members of the section for a job well done, noting that their effort is worthy of emulation not only by sister clubs in the country but government at all levels.
