Expect fireworks at home coming boxing bout , promoter tells Nigerians

Chief Executive Officer of Core Afrique Boxing Promotions, Ayodele Olusola says that the forthcoming fight he is staging in Lagos tagged ‘ The Home Coming Bout’ will be full of fireworks and excitement.
Core Afrique Promotions will on Friday, October, 27 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos organise an eleven bout boxing Championship to welcome home former WBF Featherweight Champion, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola who relocated to Japan to continue his boxing exploits.
In a world press conference to announce the fight, Olusola popularly known as Sola Ford explained that hence forth, Ridwan who had six fights in Japan; winning four, drawing one and narrowly losing one to Keisuke Matsumoto via unanimous decision on August 30 will now have all his fights in Nigeria just as he stated that management of Canada Zion Sports Incorporation are interested in seeing the fighter progress further in his career.
Olusola while commending Nigerian Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C) for their support and efforts at taking professional boxing in the country to a higher pedestal said he’s in touch with the Lagos State Government in ensuring a successful championship.
” The boxing event we’re holding on Friday which has been sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control is to welcome home our own Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola who did the country proud in Japan where he went to continue his professional career.
“It’s on record that while in Japan he gave a good account of himself and even fought for the Japanese title which he narrowly lost to a home boy.
” I knew he won that fight but was deprived of victory and that’s why we’ve decided that all his fights now will be in Nigeria and with the partnership we have with Canada Zion Sports Incorporation, he will soon fight in Canada and the United States”, he assured.
Speaking at the press briefing, President of NBB of C Dr. Rafiu Ladipo gave kudos to the promoter for his efforts at helping Nigerian boxers attain their goals in the game. He was particularly full of praises to Ridwan for being a good ambassador of Nigeria while in Japan, promising him that all the support he lacked in the South East Asian country will be given to him here in Nigeria.

Ghana’s Emmanuel Quartey noted that he’s not afraid of his opponent as the experience he garnered in Japan will be of great advantage as he face his opponent.
According to Secretary General of NBB of C, Remi Aboderin other fighters that will feature in the show are; Sunday Abudu and Toheeb Wasiu that will lock horns in the heavyweight category, while Adeyemi Adekanla will battle Seminu Olapade in the Light Welterweight bout with Oto ‘JOE BOY’ Joseph meeting Bartholomey Abuchi in the Ligh welterweight category respectively.
Other fighters are the stylish Riliwan ‘Baby Face’ Babatunde fighting against TBA in a welterweight contest, as Ibrahim Taofeek and Stephen Agbor will clash in a welterweight bout.
Also, Lateef Azeez and Thomas Baba Yakubu will square up in featherweight challenge contest with Kabiru Towolawi facing Joe John in a cruiserweight challenge contest while there will be a female bout between Barakat Adebisi and Celina Agwu in a light heavyweight challenge contest.
