Africa Games: Temporary set back for Flying Eagles as team suffers defeat in opener

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria suffered a 2-1 loss to Uganda on Thursday night in their Group B opener at the 2023 All Africa Games Men’s Football Tournament inside the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana.

Kiza Usman scored the opening goal for the Ugandans in the 34th minute before Sodiq Isiyiaka drew Nigeria level three minutes later.

Uganda found the back of the net again late in the second half to put the game beyond the Flying Eagles.

Coach Ladan Bosso’s boys will hope to bounce back from their opening day defeat when they face South Sudan on Monday, March 11.

South Sudan also got their campaign off on a losing note after falling 1-0 to Senegal on Thursday.
