Kaduna wins Legacy Sitting Volleyball championship

Gold medallist in sitting volleyball at the maiden Para National Sports Festival, Kaduna State continued their dominance of the Sports when they emerged winners of the first edition of Legacy v sitting volleyball championsh concluded Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
The team defeated Team Lagos by 2-1 of 26-24, 18-25 and 15-13 to be crowned winners of the two day event.
Earlier before the final game, Team Lagos defeated Bayelsa by 2-1 of 25’20, 15-25 and 15-10 while Team Bayelsa be at Team Legacy by 2-0 of 25-12 and 26-18.
At the end of the day, Team Lagos came second while Bayelsa took the third position while zTeam LLegacy took the rear.
Speaking while presenting certificates and trophies to the teams, sponsor of the tournament who also won buy doubles as Chairman of Legacy Basketball club Kayode Ladele expressed happiness at the successful hosting of the tournament which he said gave the athletes opportunity to acquire more knowledge about the Sports promising that subsequent editions will be more glamorous as he plans to have more teams across the 36 states of the Federation be part of it.
‘ I’m glad that we’re able to put together this competition because as you know sitting volleyball is a Paralympic sport and we hope to develop players that will eventually represent the country at the All African, Commonwealth and Paralympic Games.
‘We’re also assuring Nigerians that this will be an annual event as we plan to help special athletes become useful citizens through sports and that’s why am appealing to corporate organisations to partner with us the make future championships bigger and better.
Winner of the two day event went home with N100,000 and a trophy while the first and second runners-up got N50,000 and N40,000 respectively with a trophy.
A total of four teams namely ; Lagos, Legacy, Bayelsa and Kaduna took part in the competition.
