Volleyball league: Pindar gives Imo passmark

Commodore James Aliyu Pindar of Nigerian Navy, Abuja has given Imo State Government under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma a pass mark in hosting the ongoing 2023 national division 1 and 2 Volleyball leagues, in terms of provision of sporting facilities and infrastructure, just as he said that the level of insecurity in the South East, is obviously over blown by the media inview of his observations.
Pindar who’s the Coordinator of Chief of Naval Staff Spikers Volleyball Club, Abuja disclosed this on Wednesday at the indoor sporting hall of Dan Anyiam International Stadium Complex, Owerri one of the venues of the competition in the State when cornered by Sports Journalists to give an assessment of the competition so far.
The Coordinator pointed out that, in the past Imo State was known as the leading pillar of sporting activities in Nigeria but regretted that for over a decade now, the State involvement in sporting activities nose dived which he described as”very unfortunate” and deserve reawakening.
According to him, ” my observations in Owerri so far is that, the rate of insecurities being presented for the South East is simply deceptive and over blown by the media, except it happens outside the metropolis” he queried.
Pindar who’s also Chairman FCT Volleyball Association, Patrons of Defense Strikers VC and Villa Strikers VC, all in Abuja noted that, the essence of the competition is to discover young latent talents with skills, discipline and energy to form quick replacements of aging and unproductive players in the national teams and premiership league.
The Volleyball administrative icon assured that the 2023 competition in Owerri will be a harvest of talents just as he expressed satisfaction in terms of the tournament organization, adding that Imo citizens are very wonderful when it comes to hospitality and relating with visitors.
He reiterated that his men are happy being in Owerri, Imo State capital for the competition as they are psychologically and physically sound, having just returned from Tunisia where they represented Nigeria in African Championship with both their male and female teams and equally made the nation proud.
Pindar insisted that his team is in the competition to win as they have already won in their first two matches by humiliating their opponents.
Here’s the out come of the matches played on day two of the ongoing 2023 National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball League in Owerri as the 9 days national event have been detailed to end this Monday 12th of June.
Men (Divison 2);
Odogwu Spikers vs Imo Spikers, ended (1-3) in favour of Imo Spikers VC as 1st set: 20-25, 2nd set: 25-17, 3rd set: 22-25 and 4th set: 20-25
while the game between Olalomi Royal VC v Oluyole Spikers ended (0-3) in favor of the superlative Oluyole Spikers. It was a match of total supremacy as justified by these results,
1st set: 29-31, 2nd set: 26-28 and 3rd set: 16-25
The battle Royale match of the day was that of youthful but indomitable, Safety Spikers vs Adamawa Spikers (3-1) as the tactical Federal Road Safety Corps Spikers, Abuja arrested and detained their hard fighting opponent, Adamawa Spikers with 3-1 as shown, 1st set: 25-23, 2nd set: 6-25, 3rd set: 25-22 and the final 4th set: 25-23
One game that fans felt disappointed was the match between Sword VC of Benue State vs Imo Spikers of Owerri, the Sword cut Imo Spikers to size on their own pitch and before their overwhelming home fans with (3-1) win, as shown by these results; 1st set: 18-25, 2nd set: 25-14, 3rd set: 25-17 and 4th set: 26-24.
Another interesting match of the day that justified that there’s destiny in the affairs of men is that between Oluyole Spikers v Odogwu Spikers in which Oluyole demoralized their skillful and enterprising opponent, (3-1), though it was painful, but this is sports, atimes the battle is not for he that runneth nor the swiftest but God choices to honour whom He wants to Honour, the results 1st set: 21-25, 2nd set: 25-10, 3rd set: 25-20 and 4th set: 25-7
However, the match between Ajase Ipo of Kwara v Niger Brass of Minna, (3-0) Ajase Ipo bluntly told their opponent, Niger Brass VC that khaki no be lather by flooring them; 1st set: 26-28, 2nd set: 22-25 and 3rd set: 21-25.
It was a war like in the match between Life Camp VC, Abuja v Olalomi Royal VC of Kwara (3-0), the optimism of the Royal team was insulted and disgraced by the justifications of these results garnered by flexible but mobile Life Camp, 1st set: 25-19, 2nd set: 25-16 and 3rd set: 25-23.
For Men Division 1, it was a fight of the Titans between, G-Ranks v Nigeria Correctional Service VC and the game ended in favour of more experienced and tactical, Nigeria Correctional Services as endorsed by this result, (1-3) detailed as 1st set: 20-25, 2nd set: 25-17, 3rd set: 18-25 and
4th set: 21-25.
It was like walk over against Kwara United VC as CNS VC Kwara assaulted them with 3-0, in the match between CNS Spikers v Kwara United VC, certainly the detailed results are not palatable for optimistic Kwara United VC as seen here,,1st set: 25-12, 2nd set: 25-19 and 3rd set: 25-9.
