The 37th edition of the annual Sanwo- Olu Ajegunle Mock Nations Cup will kick off from Saturday November, 23 – 5th, January, 2025 at the Naval Sports Ground, Mobil Road, Apapa- Ajegunle, Lagos.
According to the organisers of the popular grassroots football tournament, 28 teams representing various African countries will do battle in the competition.
The tournament which will be decided on a round robin basis is divided into seven groups with Group A comprising of Cote d’Ivoire, Sudan, Congo and Somalia. Group B is made up of Ethiopia, Libya, Gabon and Mauritania while South Africa, Lesotho, Burkina Faso and Malawi are in Group C
Group D is made up of Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Tunisia and Senegal.
Morocco, Egypt, Benin Republic and Rwanda are in Group E with Group F comprising of Guinea, Uganda, Burundi and Liberia while Algeria, Togo, Zambia and Angola will do battle in Group G.
According to the fixtures of the tournament released by the organisers, the opening match will be between Cote d’Ivoire and Somalia on Saturday, November, 23 while on Sunday the 24th, Sudan will lock horns with Congo while Libya plays Gabon.
Action will continue on Monday, 25th November when Ethiopia will confront Mauritania in the first match of the day after which Malawi and South Africa will do battle while Lesotho will test the might of Burkina Faso.
