Rep member, Ekeh condemns murder of Gulak, unwarranted attack on constituents

The member representing Aboh Mbaise/ Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bede Uchenna Ekeh has condemned the gruesome murder of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s former Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak describing the murder as most unfortunate.
Hon Eke, in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Owerri also condemned the killing of the former presidential aide on the soil of his Federal Constituency.
He however decried the harassment and mindless killing of some unsuspecting members of his constituency by military and police operatives deployed to the area where Gulak was assassinated and called for caution on the part of security operatives detailed to investigate the matter.
The federal lawmaker commiserated with the Gulak family and the good people of Adamawa State as well as families of his constituents who lost their lives through the bullets of security agents on that fateful day.
He described Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency as a very peaceful place that has not experienced that type of gruesome murder before now and believes that since a lot of fingers are pointing to political assassination as captured by the Imo State Governor in a recent broadcast, the investigation must look beyond them.
Hon Eke called for a thorough and detailed investigation into the unfortunate incidence, insisting that the perpetrators should be brought to book, while asking that investigation should also be carried into reasons his constituents were gunned down by security agents.
He noted with dismay that since that fateful Sunday, many of his constituents, women, youths, children and the aged have been forced to desert their homes; hide in bushes or take refuge in neighbouring constituencies in order to avoid being unjustly arrested or killed by prowling heavily armed security operatives.
“There are video evidences of these scenes and it is not good in anyway. These events make it look as if our people have committed a crime by donating land for the Imo Airport,” he said.
He therefore called on the Imo State government, the Imo State Police Commissioner and heads of other security units in the State to ensure that caution and professionalism remain their watchword in the discharge of their lawful duties to fish out the killer(s) of Gulak.
