Amorim Sacked As Man Utd Coach

Ruben Amorim has been sacked as Manchester United manager after 14 months in charge and with the club sixth in the Premier League table

Available information, indicates that the  club hope to appoint a caretaker for the rest of the season before appointing a permanent manager in the summer

U-18 head coach and former player Darren Fletcher will take charge of Wednesday’s game with Burnley before the caretaker manager is appointed

In a statement, Manchester United say the decision has been made ‘reluctantly’ and ‘it is the right time to make a change’

Sources said that the club felt there had not been sufficient evidence of evolution or progress this season under Amorim

On Sunday, Amorim hinted that he was not happy with the level of interference from the Man Utd board

The situation had become untenable but United are sixth, in line with pre-season expectations, writes Simon Stone

Amorim’s tenure at Manchester Utd included their worst-ever Premier League season, losing in the Europa League final and a humiliating defeat to League Two side, Grimsby
